Hello, my name is Alanna and I’m a passionate Behaviour Analyst and Special Educator with qualifications in Special Education, Early Intervention and Applied Behaviour Analysis. I have been a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst since 2009.
I have had the privilege of working with children and adolescents with Autism, language disorder and other developmental disorders for over 20 years. I love seeing how happy and engaged children are when their learning, social and sensory needs have been appropriately met.
I have worked with children with Autism around the world in private early intervention
clinics, home based intervention and early childhood and school settings. I most recently worked at a special needs school in Brisbane as a senior behaviour support specialist providing whole school intervention within a PBS framework, as well as intensive support for students requiring functional behaviour assessments and positive behaviour support interventions.
It is my belief that parents, siblings, early childhood staff and peers are the best people to teach a child with Autism, so my therapy programs are designed to guide parents, siblings, and early-childhood teachers on how to incorporate a child’s learning goals into play sessions and home based routines.
I’m passionate about advocating for students with Autism to ensure they are receiving the support and care they are entitled to in order to thrive in their school environment. Positive, supportive relationships are key to helping children who are having difficulties at school, while collaboration and consistency amongst staff is critical when targeting skills in a positive, proactive way.
I can’t wait to meet you and your child and help to guide them on their learning journey.
